The government has issued a notification forming the new board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. 4 names have been mentioned as directors of the board. The names of the remaining 8 posts have been mentioned. Whenever the person in charge of those posts acts as director of the aircraft.
On Tuesday (August 27), the formation of the board was informed through a notification from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Former MD of Biman Abdul Mueed Chowdhury was already appointed as the chairman of the board. The 4 people named in the board as the director are Mahbubur Rahman, president of the International Chamber of Commerce of Bangladesh, former director of Biman Lt. Colonel (Retired) Engineer Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, Councilor of IACAB and MD & CEO of Emerging Credit Rating Limited Noor-e-Khoda Abdul Mobin, Ali Ashfaq of Rangs Waterfront.
The remaining 8 posts on the board are – Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Secretary of the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance, NBR Chairman, Secretary of the Office of the Chief Adviser, Chairman of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BABCHAK), Bangladesh Army Engineer in Chief, Association of Bankers. Chairman of Bangladesh Limited, and MD & CEO of Biman (when in charge).
Meanwhile, although there were posts of lawyers from the Ministry of External Affairs, Air Force, BGMEA and the Supreme Court in the previous boards of Biman, no one was kept from these organizations or fields.
