Repairs of main roads in Starozagorsko begin. Among them are nearly 20 km from road II-66 Sliven – Stara Zagora and 16.5 km from road II-56 to Pavel Banya, the “Road Infrastructure” agency reported.
The Road Infrastructure Agency and the Stara Zagora municipality are undertaking joint actions to reconstruct the intersection of the Stara Zagora ring road with the municipal road to the village of Hristcheni. Experts from the agency and the municipality have inspected the intersection and are starting work on the preparation of an agreement to regulate the cooperation for the implementation of the object.
The goal is to reconstruct the current four-way intersection, after the preparation of a technical project, into a roundabout and increase traffic safety in the area.
At the moment, the traffic on the main road – I-5 road, and the secondary road – municipal road, is extremely intensive. To reduce the speed of traffic in the main direction before and after the intersection, a transverse noise marking has been placed and the speed of traffic is limited to 50 km/h. Despite this, a large number of drivers continue to pass at high speed, not respecting the restrictions introduced in the section, the agency says.
Ongoing repair of nearly 20 km of the second-class road II-66 in the section from the border with the Sliven region to the Stara Zagora ring road (from km 39+000 to km 58+700) has also started. There is a ready technological project for the renovation of the track. It includes the laying of asphalt pavement, drainage improvement, horizontal marking, restoration of curb systems and new road signs. Four bridge structures will also be repaired.
16.5 km of road II-56 in the section from the town of Pavel Banya to the border with Plovdiv region (from km 19+300 to km 35+800) are also being repaired. The repair of the lower structure and the upper structure of two bridge structures over the Turiyska River is also planned. At the moment, the pavement is being milled, the banquettes, ditches, etc. are being cleaned.
The construction works will be carried out without stopping the traffic, and the cars will pass in the lane in which no construction and installation activities are carried out. It is necessary for drivers to drive carefully and at an appropriate speed, the API reminds. The planned activities will be carried out under the ongoing repair program and have been assigned to the road maintenance company with which API has a contract under the PPA for ongoing repair and maintenance of the republican roads in the Stara Zagora region.
