In this interview, Me Grimaud denounces the incompleteness of the law of March 2, 2022, known as the “Dupond-Moretti Law”, carried by the LREM deputy Patrick Vignal and strongly supported by the Minister of Justice. This text makes it possible to change the surname, by joining the surnames of his two parents or by replacing his usual name with that of his other parent, according to a very simple procedure, and without having to give any justification.

The legislator’s lack of anticipation has just been vividly proven by the request, made in prison, and in anticipation of a possible modification of his sentence, by the multi-repeat child offender Francis Évrard, who now bears the name of his mother .

This individual made himself infamous by kidnapping, confining, drugging and raping a five-year-old boy, Enis, only six weeks after his release from prison… A prison where he had just spent 20 years after being sentenced to a sentence of 27 years for the aggravated rape of boys aged 7 and 8. This latest conviction was the seventh handed down by the courts against Évrard for acts of sexual violence against minors.

Thus, a law initially designed to allow victims of domestic violence, particularly incest, to no longer carry and/or transmit to their children the name of the abusive parent, can be diverted from its purpose by criminals so that they can go under the radar of institutions whose mission is to protect citizens.
