Replacement of seats in FGV trains and trams

by time news

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, FGV, has begun the process of replacing 10,000 seats in the Metrovalencia and Tram de Alicante metro and tram units with new ones.

The action has a budget of half a million euros and will increase the number of accessible parking spaces and improve maintenance. The new, more ergonomic equipment has been designed in two colours, gray and blue, to differentiate between general use and reserved seats.

This change affects 10,180 seats, of which 7,504 correspond to the 62 meters that circulate through Metrovalencia; 1,848, to the 44 trams of the 4200 series that travel through both the Valencia and Alicante networks; and 1828, at the 9 train-Tram of the Alicante Tram.

FGV already carried out this change process on the Alicante train-Tram last year, so the change affects all FGV park units, except the Siemens Metrovalencia trams, which already have seats with these characteristics.

Collaboration with Once

The 4300 units increase the number of reserved places by 7 percent, so the four-car meters will have twenty-four blue reserved places and the five-car ones will have thirty. In the Valencia and Alicante 4200 series tram units, the number of accessible seats increased by 15 percent. In the metro units, and as a result of the collaboration with Once, reserved seats have been set up next to the train head doors and platform, where aids and technical support elements for the disabled are located.
