Mon, 11:06·Hardware·bkWith the introduction of the iPhone 15, Apple increased its focus on issues such as sustainability and environmental protection. The company presented some of its ambitions in detail and stated, among other things, that it wanted to avoid leather products in the future. If you browse Apple for cases for the iPhone, you will only find silicone cases for 59 euros or the new fine fabric cases for 69 euros. Cupertino promises a “material made of robust fine twill” that feels like suede. “Thousands of hours of testing” went into developing the product, but many buyers are not overly convinced. Apparently Apple has now pulled the ripcord.
Leaker: Apple stops production of fine fabric accessories
Apple recently caused astonishment with a short video that praised the abandonment of leather products as progress: The company did not mention the fine woven (or “FineWoven”) goods that were included in its portfolio as a replacement. In doing so, the manufacturer raised suspicions that the new types of cases, MagSafe wallets, bracelets for the Apple Watch and AirTag keychains could be on the verge of extinction. In fact, this seems to be the case: the leaker Kosutami claims X, Cupertino stopped producing the accessory due to its poor durability. According to Kosutami, another material could be used in the future – but leather is out of the question.
Massive Kritik an FineWoven
Kosutami shared very accurate information about these products prior to the launch of the fine-weave accessories, so his claims could very likely prove to be correct once again. In fact, the iPhone cases made of fine fabric in particular seem to have caused dissatisfaction: Amazon provided the accessories with a warning about a high return rate and many users expressed strong criticism of the material (see here). Apple now seems to be quietly addressing the dissatisfaction by removing accessories from the market.
