Botafogo does not give up on Eran Zehavi. After several weeks of reports that the luxury club Mario de Janeiro is trying to convince the striker of the Israeli national team and PSV Eindhoven to join the team, tonight (Thursday) it was published in the Brazilian “Globo Sport” that an official offer has been submitted to the Israeli.
As is well known, Zehavi ends his contract at PSV Eindhoven at the end of the season and he will be able to leave without compensation to any club that wants his services. It was recently announced that PSV may reconsider whether or not to offer him an extension of his contract in light of his wonderful ability in recent weeks, and Maccabi Tel Aviv also hopes to take advantage of the fact that Zahavi will celebrate his 35th birthday this summer and want to return to Israel after many years overseas.
According to the Globo, Zehavi’s demands are still too high for Botafogo, but the Brazilians have chosen to make him a formal offer anyway and in the hope that he will eventually materialize in the amounts he demands. It is also written that the person conducting the negotiations with Zehavi on behalf of Botafogo is John Textur, who is assisted by Dougie Friedman, both of whom are senior members of the English Crystal Palace, who also serve as senior members of the Brazilian club’s management.
It was also written that the official offer submitted to Zahavi indicates that Edinson Cavani refused to join the group, even after he and his immediate surroundings were disappointed to know that the talks with Botafogo had been published in the media.
