Reuters reported this evening (Sunday) that two Syrian soldiers were killed and three wounded in an Israeli attack aimed at sites of the Iranian militias in Syria, near the city of Homs. It was also reported that the attack was carried out against the Shairat airport, which belongs to the Syrian Air Force and was even used by Russia.

According to the report, Syrian military sources claimed that there was significant damage at the site and that the field in Shairat was recently used by the Iranian Air Force. In addition, the runway and underground facilities in the field, including aircraft shelters, have undergone a major expansion by the Russian military in the last three years.

As you may recall, the American newspaper “Wall Street Journal” reported last week that Israel was behind the attack on the Iraq-Syria border, which targeted a convoy of vehicles, which apparently smuggled Iranian weapons. It was also reported that the attack was carried out in al-Bukhmal, a Syrian town located near the border with Iraq, and often used as a transfer point by militias associated with the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards.
