It was also reported that the meeting comes as a continuation of the intense efforts that Jordan is making in coordination with the Palestinian Authority and the other parties to stop unilateral measures and security escalation that threatens to break out large waves of violence. In addition, it is claimed that the meeting that will be held in light of political and security challenges, is the first meeting of its kind between the Palestinians and Israel with the participation of the countries of the region in years.

As mentioned, the summit comes in the shadow of major security tensions after the major operation in Nablus this week in which 11 terrorists were killed, as well as the firing of rockets from Gaza towards the enclave. A member of Fatah’s central committee, Abbas Zaki, told the official Palestinian news agency “Wafa” that “Israel betrayed the Palestinian Authority” by carrying out the military operation in Nablus.

According to him, “a new agreement was supposed to be signed between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, but Israel betrayed us and carried out the actions in Nablus”, he noted, “the Netanyahu government practices the most severe sanctions against our Palestinian people, the latest of which was the massacre in Nablus”. He then claimed that “this is what causes us to sever all contact with Israel, stop security coordination and turn to the International Criminal Court.”
