Report: Microsoft has stopped making Xbox One consoles

by time news

Microsoft has stopped producing Xbox One consoles, according to a report on The Verge. The technology giant has confirmed to “The Verge” that it has stopped producing the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, in preparation for the next generation of its consoles. “To focus on the production of the Xbox Series X / S, we have discontinued production of all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020,” said Cindy Walker, senior executive in charge of marketing the Xbox console products in a statement to The Verge.

The approval from Microsoft comes after a report in Bloomberg stating that its big competitor, Sony, planned to stop production of the PlayStation 4 by the end of 2021. However, the company now plans to produce about a million PlayStation 4 consoles by 2022 to address the PlayStation 5 shortage. Bloomberg noted that Sony has confirmed that production is still ongoing, to be able to meet the demand resulting from the lack of chips and its inability to launch additional PlayStation 5 models.

The Corona plague, which has left many in their homes for the past two years has led to a surge in the number of people entering the gaming worlds. At the same time, problems with the supply of console components have meant that companies are unable to produce a sufficient quantity of them and the waiting times for devices are very long.
