Kochi: The report of the Justice Hema Committee, set up to study the problems of women in the Malayalam film industry, has been released by the government. It has been decided to remove some parts of the report and give it to the applicants under the Right to Information Act. 233 pages will be issued excluding some pages, paragraphs and text.

On pages two to four, the last line of the fifth paragraph and paragraphs six to eight shall be omitted. Paragraphs 57 to 58 of pages 29 to 31 will also be omitted. All but the last line on page 191 and the last paragraph on page 192 will not be omitted. Thus, 16 sections are largely omitted.

The notice to applicants will specify which parts are exempt. The notice says that the parts that reflect the privacy of individuals have been omitted. The information released does not contain any part of the Information Commissioner’s order which was ordered not to be disclosed.

This section covers paragraphs 165 to 196 of pages 81 to 100. The notice also stated that the last line of the report had been deleted with a blank.

A copy of the report will be given to the five people who applied for the report at 3.30 pm on the 24th. The report filed by the government is coming out with the intervention of the Right to Information Commission. The commission’s order was to release the report before July 25 by removing the privacy-infringing parts.
