Van Nistelrooy, now 45, serves as the club’s coach until the club’s age 23, and will likely jump to the seniors.
The person who may serve as his assistant, according to the report, is none other than Fred Rotten – who previously served as the coach of Maccabi Haifa. Rotten, 59, has been an assistant coach at PSV for three years, and has also coached at Schalke, Twente and Vitsa. PSV hopes that the combination of Van Nistelrooy and Rotten could help the former in the role.
Van Nistelrooy may be starting his coaching career, but behind him is a rich football career as a player: who grew up in Dan Boss, and also played for Heerenveen, came to PSV in the summer of 1998, and after three very successful years also moved to Manchester United, Real Madrid, Hamburg And Malaga. He has 35 goals in 70 appearances for the Dutch national team, and he also served as its assistant coach in 2019.
