The source also added that the Palestinian Authority “was stunned by the crime committed in Jenin, and called on the mediators to stop the massacres against the Palestinians.” The source added that the UN and Egypt are holding talks with the factions in the Gaza Strip to prevent the situation from escalating, especially after the factions warned that they “will not stand idly by and the response will be painful.” The source noted that the factions are examining how to respond to the Jenin events and that the mediators We are waiting to see how the situation will develop in the coming hours.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the newspaper that “we learned, from an informed source, that Egypt and the UN, along with Qatar, are in continuous contact with the occupation, the Palestinian Authority and the factions, to restore peace after the massacre in Jenin.”

The source confirmed that the Palestinian Authority “expressed shock at the crime committed in Jenin”, and called on the mediators to “stop the massacres of the occupation against the Palestinians” in all their places of residence, especially in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The source added that “the UN and Egypt are in continuous contact with the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, not to escalate the situation in the Gaza Strip, especially when the factions hint that they will not stand idly by and that this will be a painful response.”

It was reported on Palestinian television that Abu Mazen convened an emergency meeting of the Palestinian leadership following the events.

The spokesman for the Islamic Jihad movement, Tariq Salmi, said that “the crime committed by the occupation in the Jenin camp will not go unnoticed.” In an exclusive interview with the “Al-Watan studio” program, Salmi said that “the crime of the occupation will not go unnoticed”, and emphasized that “the occupation will pay the price for this crime”.

He noted that what happened was “a full-fledged crime of the occupation, whose purpose is to kill the Palestinian people and the spirit of resistance in the West Bank.”

The Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced that nine people were killed in the incident, and many were injured, including an elderly woman.
