Report: The Shin Bet chief’s unusual warning to Itamar Ben Gabir against a flare-up

by time news

In recent days, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar had a frantic conversation with International Security Minister Itamar Ben Gabir in which he gave him an unusual warning about a security flare-up and told him “that’s enough”, as reported this evening (Wednesday) by News 13.

According to the report, Ben Gabir, who as you know has complex relations with the Shin Bet, this week received an unusual phone call from the head of the Shin Bet. In an unusual move, Ronan Bar called Minister Ben Gabir with a bold message: “Your activity creates a sense of collective harassment in the field, it incites Jerusalem and may cause a wide flare-up at this sensitive time.”

According to the report, the warning came in response to what Ben Gabir said after the attack in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem, in which, among other things, he announced a “Protective Wall 2” and sent the police to make enforcement more difficult in East Jerusalem, things which, according to the head of the Shin Bet, cause the Palestinian population to feel harassed by the government.

It was also reported that senior security officials treat the security flare-up as something that will obviously happen. According to them, we are before Ramadan, we were not able to cool the area or close the details in Al Aqsa, and a flare-up is only a matter of time.

The Shin Bet does not refer to conversations with a political level, but Ben Gvir said in response: “I do not refer to private conversations and greatly appreciate the various security organizations, but we must change the diskette. For years we have not touched East Jerusalem and it blows up in our faces, the time has come to enforce the law in East Jerusalem as well. Governance and sovereignty will make it clear to the terrorists that the State of Israel has an owner.” According to the report, Ben Gabir also said similar things to the head of the Shin Bet.
