War in Europe: 16 days for the fighting to break out, and no solution is in sight. The mayor of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine says 48 schools in the city have been destroyed. Of the city’s 1.4 million residents, many fled to the west. Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Kornichuk, held a press conference earlier today (Friday). The ambassador said: “Expect the Israeli leadership to join the US sanctions on Russia.” Meanwhile, the UN said there are more than 2.5 Ukrainian refugees.
The Foreign Ministry announced today (Friday) that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Yair Lapid will fly on Saturday night for a political trip to two border countries with Ukraine. Lapid will take off for Romania and Slovakia, and during his visit he will meet with Foreign Ministry officials who have been working in an emergency situation on the ground for more than two weeks. Minister Lapid will also meet with the heads of state and discuss with them the situation in Europe and bilateral relations with Israel.
Contacting Israeli companies: Do not work in Russia
At the press conference held by Kornichuk, he asked Israel to send more medical and protective equipment to Ukraine, and also asked Israeli companies to stop working in Russia. According to a British situation assessment, the Russians are forced to use most of their forces to encircle major cities in Ukraine, due to the opposition of the forces and the locals, which impairs their efforts of progress.
The Russian convoy splits
New satellite images once again reveal, after eight days, the Russian convoy that includes tanks, anti-tank vehicles, fuel and equipment. Armored vehicles maneuver in the cities surrounding the airport.
