The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdullah Al-Masry Al-Fadil, met with the Chief Advisor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mukhtar Ahmed Omar, at the beginning of his visit to the House of Representatives today, Sunday, at its headquarters in the city of Benghazi.
Al-Masry Al-Fadil welcomed the chief advisor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the headquarters of the House of Representatives and in the city of Benghazi. During his welcome to the guest, the head of the House of Representatives referred to “the renaissance that the city of Benghazi is witnessing after its victory over terrorism.” He also stressed during his speech the importance of joint cooperation between the House of Representatives, its office and the Union.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives praised “the position of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in support of the legitimacy of the Libyan House of Representatives as the sole representative of the Libyan people, and that the time has come to renew horizons of cooperation by activating the joint cooperation agreement to benefit from the technical support provided by the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the member states of the Union.”
For his part, Senior Advisor to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mukhtar Ahmed Omar, expressed “his great pleasure in meeting with the Chairman of the Bureau of the House of Representatives, Abdullah Al-Masry Al-Fadil, praising his important role in establishing the Bureau of Legislative Authority in Libya and his role during the launch of the work of the House of Representatives in 2014 during the difficult circumstances that Libya went through it at the time, as expressed by Mukhtar Ahmed Omar, with the readiness of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the General Secretariat of the Union to provide the full necessary support from the tools and mechanisms of parliamentary work to the House of Representatives and its office.”
It is worth noting that “the visit of the Chief Advisor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will continue for three days, during which he will meet with a number of heads of the permanent committees of the House of Representatives and a number of directors of departments and offices in the Bureau.”
Vice Chairman of the Education Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives meets with the Chief Advisor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
The Vice-Chairman of the Education Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, Dr. Sultana Al-Mismari, met with the Senior Advisor to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mukhtar Ahmed Omar. The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the House of Representatives, dealt with a number of files, most notably how to benefit from the expertise of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, especially in the education committees.
The Vice-Chairman of the Education Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, Dr. Sultana Al-Mismari, stated, “The visit of the Chief Advisor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the House of Representatives comes in preparation for the visit of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the House of Representatives,” adding that the meeting discussed how to benefit from the expertise of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, especially in the education committees, noting that “The Inter-Parliamentary Union includes a large number of world parliaments that have extensive experience in the field of education.”
Al-Mismari explained, “The process of reconstruction and development has been resumed in Libya, which must be accompanied by the rebuilding of humanity, which can only take place through a balanced educational system that achieves individuals’ aspirations and is reflected in development programs in Libya.”
The Vice-Chairman of the Education Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives confirmed that “it was agreed during the meeting to hold a meeting via direct video communication that includes the Education Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives and the heads of the education committees in the Arab parliaments, and communication will also be made with the Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.” It was agreed to revive the agreements that Libya had previously concluded with Arab and international universities and to try to conclude new agreements that would reflect positively on Libyan universities and enable them to communicate with international universities.
In turn, Senior Advisor to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mukhtar Ahmed Omar, stressed, “that the IPU’s vision for development must begin with education, noting that the Libyan state is being built anew, stressing that it was agreed to create a parliamentary network and legislative references for education.” .
