Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert escorted out of Denver theater after complaints: CNN

Surveillance video from a performing arts theater in Denver shows Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert being escorted out of the musical “Beetlejuice” on Sunday after “multiple complaints” from patrons, according to a report by Denver Arts & Venues.

The video, obtained by CNN affiliate KUSA, shows theater officials addressing Boebert and her companion at their seats inside the theater. After a few minutes of conversation, they can be seen getting up and following officials out of the theater. The pair is then seen walking with officials through the theater and exiting onto the street.

According to the incident report, theater officials received three different complaints about patrons sitting in Orchestra C Row E seats 1 and 2. The complaints mentioned vaping, singing, and causing a disturbance in the theater. Denver Arts & Venues emailed CNN the report, which stated that the patrons were not at their seats when officials arrived and that they waited until the patrons returned.

The report further stated that the officials informed the patrons about the complaints and warned them that if another complaint was received, they would be asked to leave. The patrons were allegedly argumentative and claimed they were in concert with everyone around them. After another complaint was made regarding loud behavior and recording, the patrons were asked to leave the theater. The patrons initially refused but eventually left on their own and were escorted outside the doors.

Although the incident report did not list Boebert’s name, theater officials could not confirm if she was the individual escorted out from the theater. Denver Arts & Venues spokesperson Brian Kitts explained that the incident report did not have names attached since there was no police contact. Kitts further added that they would not confirm whether Boebert was involved.

However, Boebert herself addressed the incident in a social media post, claiming she had attended the performance and admitting to laughing and singing too loud. She encouraged others to see the musical and let her know how it ends.

In a statement shared with CNN, Boebert’s campaign manager, Drew Sexton, denied that Boebert vaped during the show but acknowledged that she used her cellphone to take a picture of the performance, unaware that photography was not allowed.

This incident is not the first time Boebert has made headlines for controversial actions. She previously shouted during President Joe Biden’s 2022 State of the Union address while he discussed helping US veterans. Boebert also made an unfounded suggestion in 2021 that Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar was a terrorist, for which she later apologized.
