Colorado Supreme Court Disqualifies Trump from Presidential Primaries, Republicans Outraged

In a controversial ruling, the Supreme Court in the state of Colorado has disqualified former US President Donald Trump from participating again in the presidential primaries in the country. The decision comes as a result of his part in the events of breaking into the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The court concluded that Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021 “constitute open, voluntary and direct participation in the rebellion” of his supporters in the US Capitol Court. This decision has sparked outrage among many Republicans, who are now suggesting similar actions against President Biden in their states.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick expressed frustration, stating, “Seeing what happened in Colorado makes me think – besides we believe in democracy in Texas – maybe we should get Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing 8 million people to cross the border since he’s been president, which has disrupted our country a lot more than anything else.”

Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, also condemned the Supreme Court’s decision in Colorado and pondered the limiting principle for this policy, questioning whether President Biden can be disqualified for allowing 8 million illegal immigrants into the country and violating the Constitution.

Former Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis took to social media to express her disapproval of the decision, stating, “What’s completely wild about this opinion from the Colorado Supreme Court is that it contains no limiting principle. Republicans should immediately file a lawsuit in Colorado to keep Biden off the ballot, arguing that his failure to secure the border and allow an invasion falls within the court’s broad definition of ‘engaging in insurgency.'”

The final decision on the issue will ultimately reach the US Supreme Court, and the Trump campaign has pledged to appeal. “We are confident that the Supreme Court will rule in our favor and put an end to these un-American lawsuits,” said campaign spokesman Stephen Chong. This matter is likely to continue to draw attention and controversy as it progresses through the legal system.
