A report by three influential committees in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has accused Biden of corruption in connection with his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.
The head of the Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, announced that the investigation had conclusively demonstrated that Biden abused the position of the presidency for the private financial gain of the Biden family and Biden’s business associates.
James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said the evidence in this investigation is the strongest case of impeachment against a sitting president the House has ever investigated.
Biden has repeatedly denied that he helped his son’s business deals, including in Ukraine and China.
For years, Republicans have used Hunter Biden’s foreign connections and chaotic personal life to try to create problems for the president. However, persistent attempts to build an impeachment case against Biden have never reached an actual vote in the House of Representatives.
The Republican majority is very slim, and they are unlikely to be able to reach a unanimous decision to remove Biden from office.
