Request to the state government to announce the pricing committee for construction materials in the budget Request to state government to announce pricing committee for construction materials in budget

Coimbatore,- A request has been made to set up a permanent price fixing committee to control the rise in the price of construction materials.

A petition submitted by the Design Engineers Association of Coimbatore to the Minister of Housing, Muthusamy, through Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Ponkumar, regarding the demands to be considered in the state budget depending on the construction sector:

The Chief Minister’s announcement that construction and allotments will be given single-window clearance within 60 days should be fully implemented.

The deadline given in the past should be extended to regularize unapproved subdivisions established before 2016.

The cost of construction materials is inflated unreasonably. Therefore, a permanent functioning price fixing committee should be set up to determine the price.

The GST levied on the construction sector should be reduced to 5 percent. When trying to get permission with issued pattas and registered documents in village Natham area, it is denied. This problem should be solved and building permission should be given to Nathambatta flats also.

In the Haka Act, mountains and hills should be identified, a minimum distance from them should be declared as a no-building area, and steps should be taken to allow construction in other areas.

In order to improve rural housing, a system like DTCP should be created which can give recognition to housing units at the Union level. To achieve the goal of owning a house for all, the government should give permission for 600 to 1,000 square feet plots. When seeking permission to demolish old buildings and construct new buildings, the old PP number should be abandoned.

The difference in height between the National Building Code and the Tamil Nadu Code should be bridged in obtaining fire proof certification for tall buildings.

Appropriate steps should be taken to recognize and declare the construction sector as an industry. A separate ministry should be created for the construction sector.

This is stated in the petition.
