Following the Studer law passed in March 2022, manufacturers of connected equipment have been forced from July 13 to sell products that fit the new regulations in force. Each device connected to the Internet must in fact offer parental control functionality once it is put into operation, in the interest of protecting children.
In order to attract parents’ attention to this activity, smartphones, tablets and computers must display the device when they are first used. A program which must be “free, easily accessible and understandable”.
At least two restrictions must be included. First, to ensure the prohibition of downloads and access “to a content that may harm the physical, mental or moral development of young people”. Second, “block access to pre-installed content that falls within the same content categories indicated above. » This is currently a vague statement which will merit specific care to avoid the repetition of the same problems.

In the interest of data protection, manufacturers must also guarantee the prohibition of the collection and processing of personal data of young people for commercial purposes.
This law, supported by Bruno Studer of the Renaissance group and supported by the government, aims to make access to more work which until now required the courage to work into the repair opportunities of the machines. Handling that is sometimes complicated, especially for people who are not always comfortable handling these things.
Retaliatory measures can be direct withdrawal of products from the market, recall of products or fines. We can already see that this last option will be favored.
