Research into the desirability of changing frequency of stool test

by time news

In Utrecht, Noord-Holland and Flevoland, 50,000 people are being asked these days to participate in the Erasmus study.

Most people appear to have no blood in their stools during the population screening, but (very) little blood is also seen as a favorable result. In people with little blood in the faeces, the risk of colon cancer is slightly higher than in people with no blood at all.

People with little blood in their stools might need a call every other year and people without blood every three years, the researchers think. With very little blood, it should stay at the frequency of every two years.
