Research: two in three Dutch people believe that the government should point out the risk of long covid

by time news

In the research conducted by DataIM, a cross-section of Dutch society is asked about their view of lung covid. 35 percent of the respondents indicate that they believe that the cause of long-term covid symptoms is biological in nature and can therefore be found in the body. However, according to 12 percent, the complaints are caused by psychological factors.

Long-term complaints

With lung covid, also called post-covid syndrome, a corona-infected person has complaints for more than three months. The most common complaints are fatigue, shortness of breath, headache, loss of concentration, forgetfulness and loss of taste or smell. For some of the patients the complaints are severely disabling and sometimes they last more than two years.

1 in 7 of the respondents in the survey say they compare long covid with a burnout. According to 1 in 10, the long-term complaints are the result of the corona measures such as the lockdowns, the curfew and the enforced distance. Nearly 1 in 10 believes that lung covid patients are not entitled to disability benefits.
