Princess Ingrid Alexandra may be at a wedding celebration in Geiranger, but the research vessel “Princess Ingrid Alexandra” can currently be observed in Nordfjorden.
Earlier Friday afternoon, the 35-meter-long and 10-meter-wide vessel made a stop in Nordfjordeid to conduct investigations.

Research and Investigations
– The vessel is equipped and designed for fisheries acoustic and oceanographic investigations, plankton sampling, geological assessments, handling and use of autonomous vessels, trawling, and more, writes the Institute of Marine Research about what the boat is engaged in.
The vessel is owned by the Institute of Marine Research while Nord University holds a 10 percent usage share.
“Princess Ingrid Alexandra” is designed by LMG Marin AS in Bergen and built by Holland Shipyards Group.
The vessel arrived in Bergen in February 2023, and has Tromsø as its home port.
As of this writing, the research vessel has moved on to Hundvika.
