Resettlement projects in Moanda: The housing distribution committee now set up!

DIG/ As part of the resettlement projects for local populations at Comilog’s industrial facilities (mine and factory), a working session chaired, on Monday, November 27, 2023, by the provincial governor, Jacques Denis TSANGA, was held at the prefecture of Moanda, departmental and local authorities, officials from decentralized administrations, command assistants, the general management of Comilog and representatives of the populations concerned.

This took place in the presence of parliamentarians from Moanda in particular Jean Valentin Leyama and Alexandre Awassi.

The main purpose of this meeting was to set up the committee which will manage the resettlement projects (distribution of houses and payment of compensation) which must take place from the end of December 2023.

Made up of the local administration, representatives of the beneficiaries (Canton chiefs, district chiefs and village chiefs) and Comilog teams, this unit will be led by the provincial governor who delegates monitoring of the process to the prefect of the department.

An action plan, timetable and work methodology were also adopted by the audience during the session. Not without disclaiming the responsibility of the committee which is, among other things, to ensure the proper implementation of this major project.

This resettlement process, which complies with international standards in this area, concerns residents of the Léyima, Lekolo and Mont Bangombé districts who will benefit of 417 modern houses ranging from studios to 5-bedroom houses on a plot of 400m².

The populations of the Moundzeye and Mikouagna villages (Moanda station) will benefit, for their part, of more than forty modern 2-bedroom houses on a plot of 400m². For all these constructions, at the initiative of Comilog, more than 15 billion CFA francs were invested by the company.

It should be noted that this relocation aims to guarantee the safety of these populations located near the company’s industrial installations and to offer them a better living environment.
