Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy… The summary conference

Who says summer video game season says big announcements in perspective. And we were not mistaken this week with a State of Play from Sony rich in emotions. We summarize the content for you.

[Mis à jour le 3 juin 2022 à 11h58] After announcing that PS VR 2 would be the central element of its conference, Sony finally offered us a state of play vintage this Thursday. The conference that took place during the night offered us some pretty sensational images and information, even giving us news of titles that we thought were lost in the depths of pre-production. Remakes, exclusives, innovation… All types of video game enthusiasts got their money’s worth during this conference, which marked the return of Capcom and Square Enix to the forefront of the gaming scene. And yes, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy both made appearances yesterday, in addition to Horizon and Spiderman, and a whole bunch of other guests that we introduce to you in detail.

Resident Evil IV

It was with a very nice trailer that Sony launched its event yesterday, and not just any trailer since it featured Resident Evil IV. The most terrifying part of the famous franchise returns in a completely remastered version. Sony even offers us a release date, March 23, 2023. We may well find Leon there, in the middle of his eventful journey in the Spanish countryside, and Ashley still a little in difficulty at Los Illuminados. The game is therefore getting a makeover and will offer completely revised graphics in addition to new gameplay mechanics. Regarding its release platform, it is currently only planned on PS5, while additional content is being developed on PS VR 2.

Final Fantasy XVI

He hadn’t heard from him for 2 years but it’s really about him that everyone has been talking about since yesterday, Final Fantasy XVI said hello to us last night. Square Enix’s RPG star made a beautiful and remarkable appearance this Thursday evening, in addition to offering us a release window. Scheduled for summer 2023 on PS5, Final Fantasy XVI revealed itself through a new trailer, Dominance, showing us the full extent of this titanic medieval RPG. Horizon, Resident Evil, the future of VR

The other event of the evening was also the remarkable appearance of Horizon Call of the Mountain. The flagship and exclusive Playstation license showed us the potential of its universe in virtual reality. Spiderman, Street Fighter 6… The other announcements of the evening

To not stay only on the Japanese side of geek culture, also know that Street Fighter 6 and Spiderman made notable appearances last night as well. The first gave us a thunder trailer, presenting us with a look that has never been so glamorous. It will host features that can make us think of a small open-world, with the arrival of an urban and multiplayer hub to discover between each fight. Also note that the game runs on the same engine as the recent Resident Evil. For Spiderman, it was the announcement of two PC releases that surprised us yesterday, with the arrival of Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spiderman Remastered in the world of keyboard mouse. Releases scheduled respectively for fall 2022 and August 11, 2022.

We also had news of other titles last night, including those of No Man’s Sky. The controversial space exploration game will make its virtual reality debut. Finally, its return, since the title is already available on the current PS VR, but will be well redeveloped for PS VR 2. A twenty-minute broadcast that is worth seeing and that proves once again that E3 is not essential to a successful summer video game season. Xbox and Bethesda will now have to do at least as well at their upcoming conference, scheduled for June 12.
