According to Aušrutė Varnienė, head of philately projects of the Lithuanian Post Office, it is currently possible to propose themes for stamps that will appear in 2025, 2026 and 2027. This can be done by May 31 of this year by sending a topic proposal by e-mail [email protected].
“Formally, stamps are proof of payment for sending a letter or postcard. However, at the moment, their visual side is much more important than their practical side. It is a visiting card of the country, where you can see the most diverse phenomena, events or objects that are important for a specific country. Therefore, we invite those who have original ideas about what should be depicted on Lithuanian postage stamps to share them with us”, says A. Varnienė.
The topics will be evaluated by the Postage Marks Publishing Commission, which consists of representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Lithuanian Post, artists, historians and specialists in other fields. The authors of the proposed topics, whose ideas are approved, will be awarded Lithuanian Post prizes.
After choosing the most relevant and interesting topics, a competition for creating postage stamps will be announced.
