The event will take place around 11 p.m., shortly after the athletes have arrived from France.

The athletes will return to Latvia with several awards. The event will be attended by Minister of Education and Science Anda Čakša, Patron of the Paralympic Movement in Latvia Andra Levite, as well as representatives of Ķekava and Sigulda municipalities, supporters and other guests.

As announced, the Paris Paralympic Games took place from August 28 and will end tonight. About 4,400 para-athletes from 186 national Paralympic committees competed in them.

Latvian para-athlete Rihards Snikus won two gold medals in the Paralympic Games with the horse “King of the Dance”, Diāna Krūmiņa became the Paralympic champion in the javelin throw, and Aigars Apinis won the silver medal in the discus throw.

Latvia was represented at the Paris Paralympic Games by Apinis, Krumiņa Emīls Dzilna and Raivo Maksims (all – athletics), Oskars Gailišs (cycling), Yuris Semyonovs (swimming), Margita Kanopka (shooting) and Snikus (Paralympic dressage).

Paralight athlete Edgars Bergs had also won a place in the Games, but he refused to start in Paris due to health reasons.
