“It was difficult to call Sodra these days. It was indeed a siege, as messages were sent to 115,000 people. self-employed population. Naturally, this aroused interest, caused people to ask additional questions”, Malgožata Kozič, representative of Sodra, said to LRT.

“Now the siege is easing a bit, and next week we expect that it will be much easier to call,” she emphasized.

According to her, the notices were sent due to PSD contributions during the quarantine period.

“At that time, self-employed residents were given such an advantage – they did not have to pay compulsory health insurance premiums every month, but they were still covered by health insurance. Those contributions were postponed for some time, people were not completely exempted from paying those contributions, they simply could temporarily not pay them due to the difficult situation, due to the quarantine, due to the suspension of work”, reminded the representative of Sodros.

ELTA reminds that during the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine, self-employed people could temporarily not pay current PSD contributions. The time to pay the premiums for the quarantine period is approaching. This must be done by April 30. Sodra will inform all self-employed residents how many contributions they have to pay.

Normally, self-employed residents who do not also work for hire and are not covered by state-funded health insurance must pay the minimum PSD payment every month – 6.98 percent. from the minimum monthly wage (MMA). This is necessary so that people can use health care services, get reimbursed medicines and other services when needed.

Until April 30 failure to pay the specified PSD premium and failure to submit a request for deferment of its payment may result in the termination of the mandatory health insurance.
