Through the analysis of water quality samples taken in Cáqueza, Cundinamarca, the Superintendency of Public Services (Superservicios) found non-compliance with the levels of free chlorine and total coliforms in the water supplied by Proyectos de Inversión Latam.
According to the analysis of the samples taken on June 27, 2024, at two points agreed between the provider and the health authority in the distribution network, by the University of Antioquia Laboratory, contracted by Superservicios; it is evident that at one point evaluated (located at the exit of the treatment system), the level of residual chlorine, essential for the elimination of dangerous microorganisms, is above the normative value, and additionally the presence of total coliforms was found, that is, the water is not suitable for human consumption.

In light of these findings and the warnings from citizens themselves, the Technical Directorate of Water and Sewer Management of Superservicios is carrying out detailed monitoring of the drinking water treatment system of Proyectos de Inversión Latam, and has requested that the system take corrective measures to mitigate the impact on the health of the inhabitants of the municipality of Cáqueza.
Based on these results, Superservicios is evaluating the inspection, surveillance and control actions to be followed to ensure that the company complies with its responsibility to supply water suitable for human consumption to its 18,000 users.
