Meetings are being held in Nakhchivan with the world’s leading energy companies, such as Total Energies, Czech Engineering, Nobel Energy, Masdar, ACWA Power, China Energy и Notus, for the implementation of solar energy projects. In this regard, a “Road Map” is being developed.
As Day.Az reports, the director of Nakhchivan solar stations told Trend about this on Saturday. Farid Safarov.
According to him, all these investments in energy are aimed at developing the sector of renewable and alternative energy sources.
He noted that in 2015, the first solar power plant “Khalkhal” with a capacity of 22 megawatts was built in Nakhchivan.
“This station is the second largest hydroelectric power station in the South Caucasus and in the country in terms of generating capacity after the Garadag solar power station with a capacity of 230 megawatts. During the year, 30 million kWh of energy is generated here. Khalkhal accounts for 20 percent of the production capacity on alternative and renewable energy sources, 86,383 solar panels are installed on an area of 36 hectares,” he added.
Currently, there are four hydroelectric power stations operating in Nakhchivan: wind-solar hybrid power plants “Khalkhal”, “Sharur”, “Kengarli” and “Julfa”.
“In fact, the interest of energy giants in Nakhchivan is explained by the fact that there are many sunny days here,” Safarov noted.
Recently it became known that electricity will be exchanged between Nakhchivan and Turkey.
