Residents in Russian Region Claim Putin Unaware of Civilian Plight
A video released this week features over two dozen residents from the Suzhansk district in Russia expressing their frustration with the Kremlin’s handling of the Ukrainian offensive. They claim that Putin was not adequately informed about the plight of local civilians following the Ukrainian forces’ border incursion.
“This lie can lead to the deaths of local people,” one resident stated, referencing the disconnect between official statements and the reality on the ground.
The residents described the devastating impact of the conflict on their lives. Many were forced to flee their homes without essential documents, relying on Telegram channels for news updates rather than official sources. Some expressed anger and frustration at the lack of evacuation plans from the authorities.
The video was shared on the Russian Telegram channel Gimtoji Suja, which covers the Suzhansk district.
Ukrainian Forces Advance in Kursk Region
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces launched an incursion into the Kursk region on Wednesday, pushing approximately 15 kilometers into Russian territory. Moscow responded by labeling the attack a “large-scale provocation.”
This operation is the latest in a series of Ukrainian counteroffensives launched in recent weeks, signifying the escalating conflict.
International Implications
The Ukrainian attack has drawn international attention and raised questions about the legitimacy of Russia as a target for military action. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted at the consequences for Russia, stating that they should “feel what they have done” to Ukraine.
