The Technical Secretariat Ecuador Grows Without Child Malnutrition (STECDSI), in order to bring health services closer to the public and prevent Chronic Child Malnutrition (DCI), promotes the so-called “Childhood with Future Caravans” at the national level, together with the Ministry of Government.

The Ministry of Public Health, through the Strategy Ecuador Grows Without Child Malnutrition of Zonal Coordination 7, in coordination with other executive institutions, adds efforts to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition and other diseases in children under 24 months of age. age.

On this occasion, the Childhood with Future Caravans took place in the parish of San Lucas, province of Loja. The Ministry of Health provided the maternal and child population and other members of the family nucleus with services for weight and height control, vaccination, delivery of micronutrients, nutritional counseling, assessment, and advice in the disability qualification process.

Ana Belén Maldonado, responsible for the Ecuador Grows Without Child Malnutrition Strategy of Zonal Coordination 7, mentioned that San Lucas is a parish with high priority within this strategy. Likewise, she indicated that ICD is multicausal, it is produced by many factors, not only health but also the socioeconomic component.

Different institutions joined in these caravans: Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, Ministry of Education, Civil Registry, Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and the Technical Secretariat, the institution that organizes this event.

This State portfolio included the component of the HEARTS strategy in the caravans. Older adults from the community received medical assessment.

María Gualan, 70, attended the Childhood with a Future Caravan. “It seems important to me that professionals do this type of activity since we can get closer and have our health checked. Today they examined me and on Monday I must go to the Pichig Health Post to request tests and a general control of my health, I am very grateful for the care provided”.
