Several residents of L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne) filed an appeal with the administrative court of Melun (Seine-et-Marne) in order to protest against the plan to install a relay station of the Free operator within the bell tower of the Sainte-Louise-de-Marillac chapel. As reported The Parisian, They are above all worried about the waves broadcast by the six to eight 4G and 5G antennas which would be installed near a school group.

Local residents also point out that the chapel is located in an area classified as a historic monument since 1988 since it is crossed by the Medici aqueduct. Thus, they do not understand how Bâtiments de France and the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) were able to validate the project.

A withdrawal procedure initiated

Questioned by the daily, the town hall indicated that it had initiated a procedure to withdraw the authorization previously issued. According to elected officials, the photographs illustrating the architectural impact of the project did not take into account “the closing of the empty arches of the bell tower in the distant insertion even though the transparency of the arches constitutes an important element of the aesthetics of the building”.

Owner of the chapel, the parish argues for its part that this relay station could bring in up to 20,000 euros in fees per year. Funds that could be used to facilitate its maintenance.
