Mine is just a grain of sand in this ocean. “I will continue to fight” He made a statement. Reminding that he will be going to prison for the 5th time, Barış Pehlivan emphasized that he is not afraid. “I have a very simple rebellion; “As a citizen of this country, why am I not benefiting from the laws of this country?” said.

Pehlivan said:

“This will be the 5th. People are afraid of what they don’t know. Frankly, I have no fear because I know what prison is like, but I’m bored of going through the same things throughout my journalism career, I’m in my 20th year. It makes me a little sad that nothing has changed and that the judicial system has not learned its lesson. Because I have a very simple rebellion; I am a citizen of this country and as a citizen of this country, it is my natural right to benefit from the laws of this country. Article 2 of the law passed in the Parliament on July 15 concerns me. Why am I not benefiting from this? “I’m fighting for this.”

“I will continue to fight”

Journalist Barış Pehlivan, who was not allowed to benefit from the legal regulation passed by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on July 15 regarding probation, emphasized that “I will continue to fight”, underlining that the objection process is ongoing.

Pehlivan explained the objection process as follows:

“The traffic between the politicians walking in Ankara is something that develops outside of me, but ultimately, I do everything I can legally through my lawyers. We currently have an application at the Execution Judge’s Office regarding my benefit from this law. But I don’t know what will happen when that application is finalized. If judges are somehow left alone with their conscience and the law, they can make the right decision. “I will continue to fight no matter what the outcome is.”

“Keep doing journalism”

Pehlivan, who conveyed a message to his colleagues and readers on his last day outside, said, “Journalists should continue to insist on doing journalism. “Readers should support the journalists who fight so hard and put their lives on the line for their right to learn.” said.

Pehlivan, who shared a photo of the dinner his colleagues organized for him before prison, on his social media account and added the note “One day, definitely…”, emphasized that he wanted to be hopeful.

Pehlivan said, “Thank you, my colleagues and friends gave me a farewell dinner before I surrendered to prison. “That photo is also a shot of him and I wanted to share Ataol Behramoğlu’s poem ‘One day, for sure’, I wanted to instill hope there, I wanted to remind everyone that these difficult days will pass,” he said.
