Resolution against Megha Dadu Dam issue | Dynamics

Bangalore: Karnataka is trying to build a dam at Megha Dadu in Karnataka. The Tamil Nadu government continues to protest.

In this context, in retaliation for the recent resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly against the Government of Karnataka, the Karnataka Legislative Assembly yesterday passed a unanimous resolution against the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution in the last 21 days to oppose the Karnataka government’s construction of a dam at Megha Dadu across the Cauvery.

Two days ago, all the party leaders expressed their opposition to this in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

On that basis, BJP Chief Minister Basavaraj filed a puppet resolution in the Karnataka Assembly yesterday condemning the Tamil Nadu resolution. Many, including Madhusamy, spoke out angrily.

Speaker Visvesvaraya Hegde Kokeri announced that the resolution was then passed unanimously by voice vote.

What does the resolution say?

* We condemn the resolution passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in protest of the Megha Dadu project which will not affect Tamil Nadu.

* We urge the Central Water Authority and the Ministry of Environment and Forests to give immediate approval for the Megha Dadu project.

* Karnataka will not approve the Godavari-Krishna-Pennaru-Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundaru river connection project report until the fair water share of the neighboring states is decided. The project report should not be finalized without our approval.
