It has been announced that Chennai’s second airport will be located in Parantur area of Kanchipuram district. It is reported that preparations are underway for the construction of the largest green airport, which includes 12 villages.
Meanwhile, people from the surrounding villages passed a resolution in the village council meeting held on Independence Day against the construction of a new airport at Parantur.

Apart from this, more than 12 villagers including Ekanapuram, Meleri and Angamapuram have been protesting continuously for more than 60 days. In particular, the villagers of Ekanapuram, which is in a state of complete removal, are engaged in a night-time identification protest after finishing their daily work.
In this case, in the Gram Sabha meetings held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in seven village panchayats including Ekanapuram, Melari, Nelwai, Valathur, Parantur and Nagapattu, a resolution was passed against the newly constructed airport.

Assistant Director of Rural Development Department Gopinath, Sriperumbudur District Collector Jaganathan and others participated in the meeting held at Ekanapuram village. The resolution stated that their livelihood will be affected due to the construction of a new airport.
