The group of MPs of United People’s Shakti has unanimously decided to appoint Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa as the interim President.
This resolution, brought by the party’s general secretary Ranjith Mathuma Bandaravi, was confirmed by the party’s vice-president, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka. The United People’s Power and United People’s Alliance Members of Parliament Committee meeting is being held today at the office of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo. In this case, the opposition United People’s Shakti has almost 50 members of parliament. It is also worth noting that they need the support of 113 MPs to win a parliamentary vote.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament SM Marikar, speaking at a press conference held at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo today, said that he is ready to unite all parties and form a government in the country for a short period of time. He also said that all the parties are ready to find a solution to all the problems during the said period.
