First exhibited at the Cannes Film Festival and released in Portuguese cinemas in September 2022, the drama “Restos do Vento” by director Tiago Guedes will premiere this Wednesday, July 24, at 10:40 PM on RTP1.
In the main roles, we find names such as Albano Jerónimo, Isabel Abreu, Nuno Lopes, and Gonçalo Waddington, along with Maria João Pinho, Leonor Vasconcelos, Ivo Arroja, Afonso Laginha, Rui Pedro Silva Teixeira, and Maria Abreu.
After directing “A Herdade,” the Porto filmmaker draws from a pagan tradition in a village in the interior of Portugal that leaves painful marks on a group of young teenagers. 25 years later, when they reunite, the past resurfaces, and tragedy sets in.
“This film arises from a desire to reflect on the violence exerted by the stronger over the weaker, this illusion of power that floods us in all aspects of society. To reflect on the loss of innocence, where it occurs and for what reasons. And perhaps the greatest desire of all was to reflect on fear, and how it conditions us, how it transforms us, and distorts reality,” reads the director’s intent notes.
“Restos do Vento” was produced by Paulo Branco, a co-production of Leopardo Filmes, Alfama Films Production, RTP, APM Produções, and ARTE France Cinéma. Watch the trailer:
