Batticaloa District Mavadimunmari prepared for Heroes’ Day celebrations at Tuilum House, only to be stopped by Kokkaticholi Police who handed over a restraining order signed by the magistrate. The order prevented preparations to pay tribute to the heroes at the Tuilum House.
Former Member of Parliament P. Arianetheran and former Pattipalai Divisional Commissioner C. Pushpalingam were handed the restraining order signed by the judge.
The prohibition order listed names of MP Selvarasa Gajendran, Ira. Chanakian, former MPs C. Yogeswaran, N. Sreenesan, Tamildesiya People’s Front Suresh, and former Batticaloa Chief Minister T. Saravanabhawan among others.
The Wahaichenai Magistrate’s Court and Vagarai Police also issued restraining orders specifying names of 23 people to prevent them from celebrating Martyrs’ Day at the Vagarai Kandaladi Tuilum house.
