Restricted holiday for Central Government employees

The central government today announced a restricted holiday for institutions to celebrate the small festival. The Central Government Employees’ Welfare Coordinating Committee informed this in Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, a public holiday has been declared today for government and public sector undertakings in the state.

Co-operative Institutions and Banking Institutions including Kerala Bank will be on leave. May 2 was earlier declared a holiday due to the small festival. As Shawwal is not celebrated, the state celebrates a small festival on Tuesday. Many Islamic scholars and Qazis have announced that Ramadan will be a small feast the day after the 30th of Shawwal.

The government had decided not to change the holiday announced earlier on Monday. Tuesday, the day of the small feast, has now been declared a holiday.
