In a prominent general assembly, the Single National Union of Construction and Annexes (Sunca) presented and approved a pre-agreement that renews the sector’s collective agreement, which had expired last March. After weeks of strikes and mobilizations in parallel to the negotiations in the Wage Councilsthe union leadership announced a pact that will cover the next three years, with real salary increases and various additional benefits.

The preliminary agreement reached establishes a comprehensive salary formula that seeks to guarantee the growth and protection of the purchasing power of workers in the sector. This formula contemplates annual adjustments based on the projection of inflation, periodic corrections to safeguard wages against eventual economic imbalances, and a real increase component that will be distributed throughout the entire agreement. ensuring cumulative growth of 2.2% after three yearsas reported by Daniel Diverio, general secretary of Sunca.

Retroactive increase and future projections: setting a precedent for future negotiations

The first retroactive adjustment, corresponding to April 2023, will be 10%. This figure includes expected inflation for that year. (5,9%)real wage growth (1,1%)a corrective related to the previous agreement (2,2%)and is completed with the adjustment of other current benefits.

In April 2024 and April 2025, the same formula will apply for salary adjustments. In these cases, the agreed real growth percentages will be 0.6% and 0.66%, respectively, for each year, according to Diverio’s projections.

This agreement is one of the first to be signed within the framework of the Tenth Round of Wage Councils, and stands out for being outside the guideline suggested by the Executive Branch at the end of June. It should be remembered that this guideline is the basis for negotiations, but both employers and workers are free to agree on the terms they deem most convenient.
