A decline of 2.8% was recorded in the volume of sales in retail trade in July this year.
Sales moved upwards only in supermarkets and pharmaceuticals – cosmetics.

Where did turnover decrease and where did it increase?
According to the data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), turnover decreased in:
- Food – Beverage – Tobacco (18%),
- Furniture – Electrical goods – Household equipment (14.7%),
- Department stores (14.2%),
- Car fuels and lubricants (7.4%),
- Clothing – Footwear (1.3%),
- Books – Stationery – Other items (0.1%).
Increase in turnover recorded in:
- Pharmaceuticals-Cosmetics (7%),
- Large food stores (4.3%).
The general volume index (turnover at constant prices) in retail trade showed a decrease of 2.8% in July 2024 compared to the corresponding index in July 2023, while compared to the corresponding index in June 2024 it increased by 1.2%. The seasonally adjusted general index showed a decrease of 3.2% in July 2024 compared to the corresponding index in June 2024.
The general turnover index (turnover at current prices) showed a decrease of 0.2% in July 2024 compared to the corresponding index in July 2023, while compared to the corresponding index in June 2024 it decreased by 1.8%. The seasonally adjusted general index showed a decrease of 2.4% in July 2024 compared to the corresponding index in June 2024.
