Retailleau and Pradié call for the resignation of Perdriau from the town hall of Saint-Étienne

Bruno Retailleau and Aurélien Pradié, candidates for the presidency of the Republicans (LR), called for the resignation of the mayor (ex-LR) of Saint-Étienne Gaël Perdriau, at the center of several cases shaking the region. “I call on the elected representatives of the majority of Saint-Étienne to dissociate themselves from Gaël Perdriau by asking for his resignation. It sullies the honor of Saint Etienne, the greatness of the mandate of mayor and politics in general, ”wrote Retailleau on Twitter.

“If there is a little personal and political honor left for Gaël Perdriau, let him leave his elective office within the hour. These methods inspire disgust and shame beyond the limits, ”added Aurélien Pradié on the same social network. “Words fail me to denounce the ignominy of Mr. Perdriau’s remarks. Full support for Gilles Artigues and Laurent Wauquiez, ”wrote Éric Ciotti, also a candidate for the presidency of LR, and traveling to Saint-Étienne on Wednesday.

Justice authorized this Wednesday Mediapart to publish an investigation promising new revelations on Gaël Perdriau, retracting a first order preventing the online media from publishing this article on the mayor of Saint-Étienne, mired in a case of alleged blackmail.

In the process, Mediapart published its investigation reporting slanderous remarks by Perdriau against the LR president of the Auvergne / Rhône-Alpes region, Laurent Wauquiez. The latter announced that he was attacking the mayor of Saint-Étienne for defamation.

«Barbouzerie»

The case began in early August when Mediapart published the confessions of the former companion of a right-wing municipal deputy accusing himself of having trapped the first deputy Gilles Artigues by having him filmed, with a view to blackmailing him, in a hotel room with an escort boy.

According to his confessions, this “barbouzerie” had been organized at the request of the mayor – who has always denied any involvement – and remunerated via fictitious services invoiced to cultural associations financed by the municipality.

Perdriau was kicked out of LR. In October, he announced that he was filing a complaint against the party for “defamation” and against LR deputy Éric Ciotti, also a candidate for the presidency of LR, for “public insults”.
