TV surprise about the Champions League

With DF1, a new channel shows the Champions League on free TV – but only in re-live. The station broadcasts a selected game on Fridays.

The Champions League is coming back to free TV! As the German private broadcaster DF1, which only launched in January, announced, the station will show a selected premier class game every Friday from 8 p.m. – but only in re-live. The new format is scheduled to start on Friday, March 8th, with the encounter between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

This is made possible by a cooperation with streaming broadcaster DAZN, which broadcasts all other UEFA Champions League games live apart from a selected top game on Tuesday. The second leg between Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven will be shown next week.

“The UEFA Champions League is undoubtedly the most prestigious competition in European football. The knockout phase creates a very special atmosphere. We are incredibly proud and grateful to be able to accompany the remaining 16 teams on their way to the grand final on June 1, 2024 in London,” says David Müller, Managing Director of DF1 Medien GmbH.

At the beginning of the year, the station took over the main broadcast slots from ServusTV Deutschland. In addition to the Champions League, DF1 also shows selected DEL games.
