Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Terrible Toybox, in cooperation with Lucasfilm Games, announced with a trailer Return To Monkey Island. The game will be the first official sequel in the series after The Secret of Monkey Island (1990), Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge (1991), The Curse of Monkey Island (1997), Escape from Monkey Island (2000) e Tales of Monkey Island (2009). The new episode is written and directed by the original creator, Ron Gilbert, along with Dave Grossman. On the soundtrack we find Michael Land, Peter McConnel, and Clint Bajakian, and the role of the protagonist Guybrush Threepwood will be entrusted to the voice actor Dominic Armato, the same as in the classic games. The release period is by the end of 2022and the platforms for which the game will be released have not yet been announced.
