jpnn.comJEMBER – Female volleyball athlete Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi returned to her hometown in Jember Regency, East Java.
The return of the athlete who successfully played in the Korean League was welcomed by Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto at Pendapa Wahyawibawagraha on Sunday.
The athlete, who is familiarly called Mega, joined the Jung Kwan Jang Red Sparks club and earned the nickname Megatron because of his very strong smashes and shining achievements in the Korean Volleyball League.
“Megatron is one of the strongest characters in the film Transformers. “Well, because my spike was strong, I was nicknamed Megatron,” he said at Pendapa Wahyawibawagraha Jember.
The youngest of three siblings from the couple Siti Muhanah and Maksum (deceased) also talked about the differences in life and playing volleyball in Korea and Indonesia.
“It’s cooler there and the training is harder, so by practicing diligently and following the coach’s directions you can play very well,” he said.
Despite her success as a volleyball player in Korea, Mega said that Indonesia, especially Jember Regency, was the place she missed the most.
“I like eating and exercising, when I come home I want to eat lots of things, especially my mother’s cooking,” said the alumnus of SD Jember Kidul and SMPN 01 Jember.
