The player, who was also born and raised in Dortmund, has played the last twelve seasons for the city’s pride. In total, the 34-year-old has played for 22 years in the yellow and black suit.

– Marco Reus is one of the club’s biggest players. He was born in Dortmund and played over ten years in the youth teams at the club and twelve years for the A team. He has also been captain for a long time. His relationship with Borussia Dortmund is very special. We wish Marco all the best for the future. We hope that he will return to BVB after his career is over, says club director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Dortmund are currently playing in the semi-finals of the Champions League, where the team won the first match at home against Paris Saint-Germain 1-0. The return leg takes place in Paris on Tuesday.

During his 424 games for the club, he has scored 168 goals and been second last on the ball 128 times. He was voted “player of the year in Germany” in 2012 and 2019.

– I am incredibly grateful and proud of my time at Borussia Dortmund. I’ve been here for more than half my life and I’ve enjoyed every single day, although there have been tougher times too. It will be tough to say goodbye, but now I look forward to the upcoming matches for the club, says Reus, who also thanks the supporters for their support over the years.
