The program “Recycle – Change Appliance” offers subsidies for replacing old electrical appliances with new, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient devices.
The new phase of the program, known as “Change Appliance 2”, introduces changes and adds new categories of subsidized devices.
The subsidies are provided through vouchers, which can be used to purchase new devices from retail stores selling electrical appliances. The vouchers cover part of the total expenditure, usually 40-50%.
It is clarified that for the subsidy of a new appliance purchase, the delivery of an old appliance for recycling is required, which must belong to the same category as the device purchased (e.g., air conditioner for air conditioner, etc.).
Change Appliance 2: What changes in the program
The main change of the “Change Appliance 2” program is the addition of new categories of subsidized devices, allowing consumers to upgrade their kitchens with modern technologies.
The new subsidized devices provide new features, such as remote management and operation, which is particularly useful in the case of changing the night tariff to a day tariff.
The program targets individuals and households with old and energy-consuming devices, offering a subsidy for their replacement with environmentally friendly and energy-efficient devices. Interested parties must apply through a special digital platform, which opens during specified time periods each year.
The subsidy covers various household appliances, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, and ovens. There is a possibility of expanding the program to additional categories of devices.
The subsidies include discounts on the purchase of new devices, aiming for long-term reduction of energy consumption costs. Moreover, the program promotes recycling of old devices, reducing waste accumulation and environmental burden.
The program changes are expected to be implemented starting in September and then the platform will open at gov.gr for Change Appliance 2.
