There are dozens of retired TNI-Polri generals behind Ganjar Pranowo’s success in facing the debate of the three presidential candidates (capres) participating in the 2024 presidential election. Photo/Aldhi Chandra

JAKARTA – There are dozens of retired TNI-Polri generals behind its success Ganjar Pranowo facing the debate of the three presidential candidates (capres) participating in the 2024 presidential election. The presidential debate held by the General Election Commission (KPU) at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, January 7 2024 had the theme of Defense, Security, International, Globalization, Geopolitics and Foreign Politics.

Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo expressed this at a declaration event for thousands of retired State Civil Apparatus (ASN), most of whom were retired TNI-Polri officers at the DBL Arena, Surabaya, East Java, Saturday (13/1/2024). In total, dozens of retired generals attended the gathering with Ganjar.

For example, retired Pol General Surojo Bimantoro, retired TNI Marshal Agus Supriatna, retired Pol General Commissioner Prof. Gatot Eddy Pramono. Then there is the Inspector General of Police, Retired Drs. Ansyaad Mbai, Commissioner General of Police Retired Drs. Gregorius Gories Mere, Commissioner General of Police, Retired Dr. Drs. Anang Iskandar, SH, MH, Vice Admiral TNI Retired Dr. Agus Setiadji, SAP, MA, Police Commissioner General Retired Drs. Luki Hermawan, MSi, and several other names.

“They are my teachers behind Ganjar’s story of arguing about Indonesia’s defense and security,” said Ganjar when he was with thousands of ASN retirees throughout East Java.

Ganjar then said that he was the son of a retired police officer. “If my father were still alive today, perhaps he would be quite proud because his son could sit with the generals. “Something that my father probably never thought of,” he said.
