As part of Prime Day 2024, Amazon Mexico, in collaboration with the research agency Ipsos, has conducted a study on the online shopping habits of Mexican consumers. The research, carried out in June 2024, reveals significant data on the perception and behavior of buyers during this important commercial event.
According to the study, 91% of Amazon Prime members in Mexico are satisfied or very satisfied with the offers, promotions, and discounts available during Prime Day. The most appreciated benefits include exclusive deals, competitive prices, and free shipping with no minimum purchase requirement.
The analysis shows that 65% of respondents eagerly anticipate Prime Day, identifying this event as a key opportunity to take advantage of exclusive discounts. Additionally, 43% of participants prepared their wish lists up to two weeks before the event, underscoring the importance of planning to maximize savings.
The study also highlights a greater sophistication among Mexican online shoppers. 84% of respondents plan their purchases in advance, valuing the search for deals and attractive prices. The main reasons for shopping online include the convenience of home delivery (87%), access to exclusive deals (80%), and the overall comfort of the shopping experience (79%). Additionally, 57% of consumers check product reviews, 56% compare prices, and 45% seek additional information on online stores or social media.
In terms of spending, the average monthly expenditure on online purchases exceeds 2,000 pesos, primarily using debit and credit cards, as well as prepaid cards and cash payments in convenience stores. The most frequently purchased product categories include fashion (88%), personal care (79%), and technology such as cell phones and computers (73%).
This study underscores the growing sophistication of online consumers and their interest in taking advantage of planned offers to optimize their shopping during Prime Day.
